The Minister of Electricity in interim government.engineer Omar Shakrouq, held a meeting today with a delegation from the UNDP led by Mr. Abdullah Al-Dardari, the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Regional Director of the UNDP in Arab countries.They discussed the current electrical situation and the necessary needs for the electricity sector at the Ministry of Electricity headquarters.

Al-Dardari reviewed the possibility of securing the necessary funding for the electricity sector.

He indicated that they are making every effort to mitigate the unilateral coercive sanctions on the electricity sector, which would improve the situation regarding the entry of necessary equipment and machinery for power generation stations for electrical network.

The Assistant Minister, Engineer  Adham Blan, pointed out that the ministry will follow up with the staff of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) working in Syria in order to obtain the necessary assistance to advance the electricity sector.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Ministers of Electricity, "Ahmad Hassoun" and "Ezz al-Din Ibrahim," as well as Dr. "Hayyan Safour" and Engineer "Abeer Al-Ashi" from the UNDP.
